What you are buying
Starfounders is a directory of software products presented as a 3D galaxy.
Paying for a world gets you: a planet in the galaxy carrying your product's
name and branding, and a public profile page for your product at
/s/your-product.
Worlds start at $5. You choose what you pay; paying more secures the world against being taken as easily.
Being outbid
The most important thing to understand before you pay. A world is held, not owned outright. Anyone may take it from you at any time by paying at least $1 more than you paid. When that happens you are not refunded — the payment bought you the time you held it, and it is not a deposit. You keep your product page at the same address, and a station in orbit around the world you lost.
This applies however much you paid and however recently. There is no minimum period during which a world is safe.
Your product page
Your page is permanent. It keeps its address whether or not you currently hold a world, so links to it continue to work after you are outbid. It shows what you paid and which world you held.
One world per product. A product is identified by its website's domain, so the same product cannot hold several worlds at once.
What you must not list
- Anything unlawful, or a site whose main purpose is unlawful.
- Malware, phishing, or anything designed to deceive visitors.
- Sexual content, or content harmful to children.
- A product you have no right to represent.
- Content that harasses or defames anybody.
The same applies to reviews and any other text you submit.
Removal
We may remove a listing that breaks the rules above, or that we are legally required to remove. If we remove a listing for a breach, we do not refund it. If we remove one in error, we will restore it or refund you.
Pro
Pro is an optional annual subscription attached to your founder account, not to a world — it stays with you if you are outbid, and applies to whatever world you hold next. It renews annually until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your product page; cancelling stops the next renewal and Pro continues until the end of the period you have paid for.
What we do not promise
We do not guarantee any particular amount of traffic, search ranking, visitors or clicks. Search engines decide what they index and we do not control that. Nothing here is an advertising performance guarantee.
The service is provided as it is. We aim to keep it running but do not promise uninterrupted availability.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes
We may change these terms. If a change materially affects worlds you already hold, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
